About SECC Tech Nights

We are thrilled to announce our upcoming SECC Tech Nights series, where we will delve into the exciting world of generative AI and explore the latest technology trends. Our sessions will provide both a practical perspective and a theoretical background for how to boost your business in digital transformation, software engineering, and process improvement, giving you the knowledge and skills you need to stay ahead of the curve.

About SECC Tech Night  "Generative AI: Bring your own Data Workflows"

Generative AI has evolved in the last few years to revolutionize AI. It has recreated the appetite for AI, and represented the re-birth of AI. It has also marked the shift from the Knowledge era into the era of AI. This presents huge challenges as well as opens a huge opportunity for many to join the motion to push and utilize these tools. In this talk we present models and workflows to leverage enterprise data to utilize generative AI to realize solutions. We will touch on some of the foundations of the Generative AI, architectures for using data as well as aspects of responsible AI.

Speaker's Info

Nayer Wanas is a Principle Engineer in Microsoft working in the AI Platform Team. He is currently a member of the Customer Experience Team in Azure Cognitive Services, a service to enable users to develop applications that leverage AI tools within the Azure infrastructure. Prior to this role he lead the Language Understanding engineering team in the Cognitive Services. Prior joining Microsoft, Nayer was the CTO and co-founder of inmobly Inc., a startup that tackles the challenge of the ever-growing demand for mobile data traffic by using sophisticated prediction and scheduling algorithms to shift network usage - preloading high-bandwidth content on Wi-Fi or low-network-traffic intervals to reduce network congestion and eliminate annoying buffering delays. During the period from 2007-2010, Nayer was a Researcher at the Cairo Microsoft Innovation Laboratory (CMIC) where he was leading the area of mining social media and web 2.0 platforms. He has also held several roles including founding and managing the  Data Mining and Computer Modeling Centre of Excellence in Egypt funded by the MCIT. Nayer remains to be adjunct with the Informatics Department at the Electronics Research Institute, Egypt as a Full Professor. Nayer holds a Ph.D. in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo in 2003, and his Bachelors and ME from the Electronics and Communications department at Cairo University in 1992 and 1996 respectively.  He conducts research in the areas of data and text mining, information fusion and machine learning. Nayer has produced several products releases, as well as 100+ technical publications and several patents related to the area of AI and his research.
