Semantic web, known as the third generation of the web, is an extension of the traditional web that aims at converting the current web dominated by unstructured and semi-structured documents into a web of data. It has been originally proposed by Tim Berners-Lee with the vision of information that can be interpreted by machines, so that machines can perform most of the tedious work involved in finding, combining and acting upon information on the web not only for display purposes, but also for automation, integration, and reuse of data across various applications [W3C].

Adding semantic web support to websites helps to maximize the utilization and value of the website content by discovering the deep relations among data. This will serve in enhancing user experience by semantically enriching the website contents and increasing its relevance. Search results will be improved as well by enabling semantic-based search instead of the traditional keyword-based search.

Asynchronous Models help solve a lot of delay issues and reduce load times on web pages. In short, this model basically instructs systems not to do everything at once. Whenever there are I/O operations that take time (slow SQL operations, writing to disk, or even waiting on web services to return information) they tie up threads on the server. Instead of tying up threads when processing I/O intensive requests, the server sets up a callback to be processed when all the tasks pending are completed.

Web-Scale IT is a pattern of global-class computing that delivers the capabilities of large cloud service providers within an enterprise IT setting by rethinking positions across several dimensions. Large cloud services providers such as Amazon, Google, Facebook, etc., are re-inventing the way IT in which IT services can be delivered.  Their capabilities go beyond scale in terms of sheer size to also include scale as it pertains to speed and agility.

Cloud/Client Architecture Cloud/client computing models are shifting. The increasing capabilities in many mobile devices, increased demand and cost of networks and the need to manage bandwidth use creates incentives, in some cases, to minimize the cloud application computing and storage footprint. This also exploits the intelligence and storage of the client device. However, the increasingly complex demands of mobile users will drive apps to demand increasing amounts of server-side computing and storage capacity.
