R&D Team paper published in the ICNS- Chamonix, France
 
SECC R&D team in collaboration with their research partner from University of Bologna, Italy and Cairo University published a paper entitled "Design and Implementation of an Interoperable and Extendable Smart Home Semantic Architecture using Smart-M3 and SOA".

The paper was published at "ICNS 2014: The Tenth International Conference on Networking and Services" that was held on April 20 - 24, 2014 - Chamonix, France. Eng. Azza Kamal, Senior R&D engineer, presented the paper and related work during the conference.

The conference is organized by the International Academy, Research and Industry Association (IARIA), which is an non-for-profit non-government organization, aiming at promoting scientific and industrial interchanges between members of existing associations, standardization bodies, and fora, and establishing bridges between different scientific, academic and industrial cultures.

SECC Participates at the Third Annual ICT for PWD Conference
 
The third annual ICT for People with Disabilities (PWDs) Conference: Integration, Empowerment, and Participation was organized by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology on April 13 -14, 2014.

The conference aims at empowering and integrating PWDs into the community to benefit from their capabilities and innovations.

During the conference, Dr. Haitham Hamza, R&D department manager at SECC conducted a session providing an overview of Horizon 2020 and the opportunities available for the ICT community in Egypt.

SECC becomes the government's focal point to coordinate the industry's efforts pertaining to the MCIT's national strategy to support the Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) uses in Egypt.
 
The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) showcased the FOSS strategy main features during Cairo ICT Trade Fair and Forum taking place from 9 to 12 December 2013. The strategy is meant to be launched side by side with the owned source software for the public benefit.

In coordination with the committee formulating the strategy consisting of specialists and consultants of MCIT and its affiliates as well as a number of governmental entities and civil society organizations representing the private sector, MCIT relied on the Software Engineering Competence Center (SECC) as the government focal point to coordinate efforts of all stakeholders to activate the FOSS strategy.

The actions made to activate the strategy include the representation of FOSS experts in SECC Board of Trustees, forming a working group of specialists to design and follow-up on applying related initiatives and programs in coordination with the participating bodies.

The Center has already started to design and implement FOSS training programs in the field of cloud computing and mobile applications in cooperation with the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC).

The 3rd RECOCAPE Event "Semantic Technologies for Web, Applications & Internet of Things":
 
The event discussed Semantic Technology utilization in dealing with the increasing complexity of emerging systems and its role in the realization of the IoT technology. Sessions have been provided by a group of SECC experts, Industry professionals and representatives from Tecnalia of Spain, VTT of Finland and UNIBO of Italy. In conjunction, the event witnessed the launching of the IoT-Egypt Forum and the kick-off of the first SECC Hackathon on Semantic Technology using the SALE (Semantic Advertisement pLatform for Egypt) platform developed during the RECOCAPE project. GROW IT Program Contribution
 
Capitalizing on the successful implementation of the Grow IT program for medium to large ICT enterprises, in which services were offered to 38 companies in cooperation with the consortium of international consultancy firms led by Atos Spain, ITIDA launched the second phase of Grow IT targeting micro and small enterprises.

Customizations are made to models and best practices provided by ATOS in phase one to fit micro and small enterprises. Implementation is performed by local consultants who are managed by SECC.

Relying and SECC's accumulative consultation and management experiences, meeting customers' expectations is ensured by proper management for consultancy services. SECC is responsible for contracting highly qualified local consultants, detailed planning for assessment and implementation phases and close monitoring for service delivery. Quality of deliverables is guaranteed via SECC conducted reviews. Feedback and lessons learnt are collected based on which continuous improvement is made to provided consultation service.

SECC signed an agreement with its Saudi partner, ARCOM company, to deliver CMMI for Development services up to Maturity Level 3 to the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Education
 
This comes in line with SECC strategy of expansion in the Gulf area, offering its services to the governmental organizations. It is worth mentioning that SECC experts were engaged with the Saudi National Information Center through its journey to CMMI accreditation in May 2013 to CMMI for Development up to Maturity Level 3.

SECC Offers Consultancy Services to Municipality of Riyadh
 
SECC experts embarked on a new project at KSA with the Municipality of Riyadh to offer consultation services on IT management following TOGAF standard. This comes in line with SECC strategy of expansion in the Gulf area, offering its services to the governmental organizations. It is worth mentioning that SECC experts were engaged with the Saudi National Information Center through its journey to CMMI accreditation in May 2013 to CMMI for Development Maturity Level 3.

ISTQB® Partner Program
 
This Program is administered by SECC which is the sole ESTB Examination Institute/Certification Body for the ISTQB® certificates in Egypt. The ISTQB® Partner Program recognises organisations with a demonstrated commitment to software testing certifications. The Program comprises four levels of partnerships (Silver, Gold, Platinum and Global) and the partnership level of an organisation is determined through the number of certification points it has accumulated.
