SECC has launched Egypt's Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) online platform during Cairo ICT 2016 to foster FOSS utilization in Egypt as part of implementing EGYPT FOSS Strategy. The platform is one of the first moves of the Egyptian national strategy for promoting the free and open source.

 In August 2016, ITIL® Practitioner Module was added to SECC's ITIL portfolio with APMG as an ATO offering ITIL Training and Certification
 
In February 2016, a new ITIL® certificate; namely, the ITIL Practitioner® certificate, was launched as part of the overall ITIL® qualification scheme. As the name suggests, ITIL Practitioner targets those who are responsible for implementing or sponsoring the implementation of ITIL® in practice.

 SECC Appraises 10 companies in KSA and China during 2016 to raise the number of appraised companies by SECC to 61
 
SECC Lead Appraisers, Mr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz and Ms. Madiha Hassan appraised ten companies, nine of which are in China and one in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during this year to achieve CMMI® for Development Maturity Level 3.

Since SECC started its CMMI® appraisal services, Lead Appraisers conducted 74 appraisals to 61 companies in Egypt, KSA, Kuwait, UAE, Syria and China were appraised to achieve Maturity Levels 2 and 3.

 SECC contracts with 12 companies to Benefit from SPI for SMEs 2016 Program
 
Software Process Improvement for Small and Medium Enterprises (SPI for SMES) Program enrolls 12 ICT companies in this round which is flavored with innovation management. The propose is to enable organizations grasp core concepts to establish innovative organizational practices; and think out of the box and generate new ideas for new and existing products or services.

Over the past ten years, SECC has introduced its SPI for SMEs program aiming at helping Egyptian IT companies to achieve maturity and business success through improving software development and service delivery processes at low cost, with minimal risk and highest flexibility.

The program is supported by the SPI Guide which is an adaptable model of excellence in software development based on the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI). SPIG encourages SMEs to follow a coherent process for software development. SPIG contains guidelines, procedures, and templates to facilitate software process improvement. SPIG has an associated electronic version that simplifies its full utilization as a toolkit to be used by software companies everywhere.

The participating companies are: Bright Information Systems, CITC, CIT Point, Data Link, Edrak, IT Smart, MAS Soft, Micro Hard Int., Micro Systems, Tech Org, TIE For IT, and X LAB.

Practical Business Session Succeed and Grow Your Business with Innovation
 
SECC organized a practical business session on April 26th on "Succeed and Grow Your Business with Innovation". The session was attended by 41 professionals from 39 companies and the feedback was excellent.

During the event, Aria Systems company talked about its experience with one of SECC services that had a positive impact on their business performance - namely "Software Process Improvement for SMEs"; and SECC expert, Mr. Ahmed ElSheikh presented on "Succeed and Grow Your Business with Innovation". The session was concluded by a technical workshop on "Enhance Project Visibility and Team Communication".

" Open Data Geeks - ODG" Wins First Place in Hack4Community Open Data Hacktahon
 
Open Data Geeks - ODG, a young team of 4 developers wins the first place in hack4Community Open Data hackathon.

ODG team used the data provided by the health administration from Giza Governorate to help investors in medical services decide make informed choices about their new businesses based on detailed understanding of the competition as well as the available supporting medical services (labs, pharmacies, etc.) in the area.

 SECC Completes MSEs 2015 Project Successfully
 
Under the auspices of H.E. Eng. Yasser ElKady, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, the closure ceremony of Activate ICT Product Development for Micro and Small Enterprises Project witnessed the great success achieved by the project. The ceremony was attended by over 250 attendees from the different governmental organizations coming from 13 Egyptian governorates and the participating ICT companies in the project.

During the ceremony, that was held on April 4th, H.E. Eng. Yasser ElKady, Ms. Asmaa Hosny the CEO of ITIDA and Dr. Hossam Osman the Chairman of SECC & ITIDA Vice President honored the top ten companies and their respective clients for their outstanding performance during the project duration.

During the celebration, all the participating companies that succeeded were awarded certificates of completion; and three out of the top ten companies presented on their success stories.

Ahmed has been working as a SCAMPI Lead Appraiser, Process Improvement Consultant, Instructor and Enterprise Architecture consultant for many years. He has a long experience in software development, project management and technical unit management. Ahmed worked with a variety of organizations including governmental, military, and private sector inside and outside Egypt. As a SCAMPI Lead Appraiser Ahmed led more than 20 SCAMPI A appraisals in addition to more than 50 pre appraisals and spot checks. Ahmed provided consultation in different Process Improvement models like CMMI for Development, CMMI for Services, Six Sigma, TOGAF, and SPIG for many organizations.

 SECC Consultants Receive Certificates of Recognition from Participating Companies at SPI for SMEs Program
 
Specialized Solutions company, 700 Apps company, and SANAtech company recognized SECC consultants Sherif Salah, Yasser Ghanim, Sally Hassan and Mohamed Hassan for their professionalism and excellence in delivering the required consultation services of the Software Process Improvement (SPI) for SMEs Program 2015 round.

After surveying the twelve participating companies in 2015 round, SECC received an excellent feedback about the consultation and training services delivered through its qualified experts. Since the program started in 2006, 148 companies benefited from the program. The program is supported by the SPIG which is an adaptable model of excellence in software development based on the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI).
